Jesse and the white dog

Check out the newest episode of Oscar's podcast, in which our raconteur in residence goes to the county jail, hunting for a story, and comes back with more than he bargained for. Oscar knows a guy named Finch, a pastor involved in a prison ministry, and he tags along on one of Finch's missions to the jail to minister to a young convict named Jesse, who's doing time on a dogfighting charge.

But Jesse doesn't want salvation. He just wants to survive the joint. He wants Finch to cast out a "demon" that haunts his dreams and threatens his survival. When Finch's spiritual guidance doesn't satisfy Jesse, Oscar puts it in terms a gambler like Jesse can understand.
